“Shawarma is an Arabic meat preparation, where lamb, chicken, turkey, beef, veal, or mixed meats are placed on a spit, and may be grilled for as long as a day. (Wikipedia)” In the Philippines, it has become a popular snack or meal can be seen in most malls. Usually in the form of a kiosk, you will sometimes see lines due to it popularity and very reasonable price.
The sauce has a zesty taste to it and almost reminds me of a small gyro. In presentation it almost looks like a rolled up soft taco, in taste definitely middle eastern. Leylam Shawarma is one of the standard kiosk you’ll see in the area and now has a place in SM city Cebu that has a seating area which is a nice change. The shawarma is also available in a rice version which gives you the option with a fried egg. A tasty roll to enjoy in between meals or for others a meal in itself.
