“Please…Please…with sugar on top!” An old expression I used to hear kids say when they would ask for something. The expression comes to mind with I look at the ensaymada. A Filipino bread that is soft in texture and has been offered with different toppings and fillings. The standard is similiar to what you see in the picture above, Variants include, shredded cheese on top (quezo de bola) during holidays and ube filling. You can find this product in most low and high end Filipino bakeries. Nonetheless, this is a timeless bread/pastry which is sometimes under appreciated by the masses when it is simply introduced as “sweet bread”.
